The Friends of Castleford Railway Station was created in March 2024.
Its aim is to create an improved journey experience for passengers and railway staff to enjoy throughout the year, when travelling to and from Castleford.

We have introduced floral displays on both platforms, and are extremely grateful to charitable organisations such as Man Matters, a men's mental health group, who built two of our flower beds. We have also been supported by local businesses such as Castleford Builders Supplies, The Ninth Bar & Kitchen and Trade Bathrooms, who have sponsored the building, installation and plating of our floral displays, which a small team of volunteers continue to maintain.

We were very proud and honoured that our suggestion to name a Northern Rail Class 195 diesel multiple unit after former Rugby League star, and Motor Neurone Disease campaigner, and sufferer, Rob Burrow MBE took place at a special ceremony at Castleford in September 2025.
